Creating Opportunities for All

United Way of the Blue Mountains is committed to ensuring that everyone in our communities has the chance to thrive. Through partnerships, strategic investments, and community engagement, we work together to remove barriers, expand access to opportunity, and build a stronger, more connected region for all.

Programs and Initiatives

Adopt-a-Student

Every child deserves the tools and support to succeed. United Way of the Blue Mountains’ Adopt-a-Student program helps remove financial barriers by funding essential school needs—from sports gear to exam fees—so every student can feel confident, included, and ready to learn.

Tabitha's Closet

High school milestones — prom, winter formal, graduation — are moments to shine. Tabitha’s Closet helps every student celebrate in style with low cost, elegant formalwear and accessories. Rooted in dignity and inclusion, this volunteer-driven program ensures every student can feel confident, proud, and ready for life’s big moments.

Blue Mountain Region Long-Term Recovery Group

Recovery doesn’t happen overnight. The Blue Mountain Region Long-Term Recovery Group is dedicated to helping communities rebuild after disasters by addressing long-term needs such as housing, employment, and financial assistance. By mobilizing resources and leveraging partnerships, we ensure that families and individuals affected by disasters have access to sustained support as they recover and rebuild their lives.

United Way of the Blue Mountains is committed to strengthening financial security across our region. By investing in recovery efforts, providing emergency financial assistance, and ensuring that individuals have the resources they need to rebuild, we are creating a more resilient and financially stable community for all.

Gap-Filling Grants

United Way of the Blue Mountains supports local nonprofits and community partners across three counties in Washington and five counties in Oregon through strategic investments that strengthen lives and build a more resilient region.

We offer two grant cycles each year — Fall Mini Grants and Spring Mini Grants and Community Grants — providing funding opportunities that respond to both ongoing and emerging community needs.

Our grants are true investments in the community, helping local organizations sustain and expand programs that create measurable impact. Funding decisions are made collaboratively by staff, board members, & stakeholders, ensuring transparency, inclusion, and alignment with community priorities.
